It's supposed to be a recovery week. Well, we can recover when we are done with the 90 days. So I am going to do mostly upper body workouts to try to maximize my results this week. Day 90 pictures will be coming soon. Until then here is a picture of me straining like a little girl in the Back and Biceps workout.

It's been tough this last week. With Easter and just being plain tired. We missed a couple of nights and had to do doubles to make up everything. I can't remember what day we did everything so I'll just post the days they were originally scheduled. We are caught up and ready to finish the last week strong.

Day 80
Back & Biceps and Ab Ripper X - I worked my biceps to utter exhaustion and wanted to lay down and not move after this workout.

Day 81
Yoga X - Have I mentioned I hate yoga and Julie is awesome. As we did this video I kept reminding myself that this was the last time this workout cycle I would have to do this video.

Day 82
Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X - I was so tired after this workout. I have wimpy legs that struggle with squats of any kind. Julie on the other hand can do wall squats forever and make it look easy.

Day 83
Kenpo - This video is really easy now. I have to push myself to break a sweat.

Day 84
Rest or Stretch. Julie and I chose rest.

This brings us to today. 6 days to go

I want to believe...

-Adam

10 more days

Here are just some quick updates

Day 71 - Chest & Back and AB Ripper X -
I actually hurt myself doing this exercise. Close to the middle of the video there was a sharp painful burn where my tendon connects to the inside of my elbow. I hurt it doing diamond push ups. I tried to do a few more push ups but my arm gave way. The rest of the video I took it pretty easy doing everything on my knees and isolating my chest muscles the best I could. I was bummed because I didn't get the workout I was hoping for.

Next we missed a few days. I was still injured and we were so busy. We ended up doing two exercises in one day and working through our rest day to make up the days we missed.

Day 72 - Plyometrics
This video is easier now but it still is hard to do.

Day 73 - Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X
This video is harder after you have already done Plyo earlier in the day. I still had to take it kind of easy on my elbow.

Day 74 - Yoga X
Since we were behind we broke yoga into two sections and did one half with Plyo and Shoulder & Arms and Abs. The next half we did with Legs and Back

Day 75-Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X
Abs seemed extra tough and Legs and Back was hard. Maybe I was just really tired from double workouts.

Day 76 - Kempo
We did Kempo and were caught up with all the workouts.

Day 77 - Rest or Stretch
We were actually working out on this day and used the rest day as one of the three days we missed.

Day 78 - Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, and Ab Ripper X
I worked hard on this video and was too exhausted to move after it was done. Julie took care of her pathetic husband. It's a good thing that she can do the videos and take care me.

Day 79 - Plyometrics
I was sweating and jumping and really glad when the video was over.

That brings us to today. Tonight will be Back and Biceps and that will leave us with just 10 day to go.

I want to believe...

-Adam

Yoga Madness

Last night we made up the Yoga date we missed. Julie was awesome as always. I struggled as always. I am doing better than I did before. Below are some pictures of our workout poses.

First up is the amazingly beautiful and flexible Julie. This is a standing leg raise with toe hold while grabbing her opposite hip. I definitely can't do this but Julie makes it look easy.

Next Julie shows the she can not only touch her toes she can grab a Yoga block that is 9 inches past her toes. WOW!!!

In this picture Julie demonstrates the wheel pose. If I was doing this I would be demonstrating how to break my back and then fall and break my neck.

Just a little bonus, Julie raises her leg while in wheel pose. I know it seems impossible but she can actually do this.

Now on to some not nearly as exciting pictures of me showing off my Yoga poses.

Here I am in Seated Prayer twist. We are really trying to eat healthy and work hard the last part of this program. Some days it's tough like when My brother and sister in law invite us out to play games and they tempt me with a ton of Chips and yummy dip. That night I ate a few chips with dip but I did eat an apple and only drank water instead of coke. Or like when Julie goes to my grandma's house and she has cooked a plate full of bacon and waffles and a gallon of chocolate milk. She resisted and had a half a piece of bacon and strawberries and water (it helped out that she had already eaten before she got there) . We have talked about celebrating after the 90 days. I think we are going to go to Outback. I am going to have cheddar bacon fries as an appetizer, Baked Potato soup, a fully loaded baked potato and a nice steak with Dr. Pepper to drink. I don't know what Julie will get but we will eat a lot, and butter will be on everything. Until then low calories high protein and water.

Day 61
Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X - Man I still hate wall squats and I'm not very good at balance lunges. I was tired this day and didn't use very heavy weights in my lunges

Day 62
Kenpo - I got low in my stance on my blocks and lunges and felt the burn.

Day 63
Rest or Stretch - We opted to rest

Day 64
Chest Shoulders Triceps and Ab Ripper X - I killed myself on this video. If someone would of asked me to hold a feather for them I wouldn't have been able to do it. I was wiped out.

Day 65
Plyometrics - It seems that Jumping a lot is good for burning calories.

Day 66
Back & Biceps and Ab Ripper X - As I'm typing this, (4 days later) my biceps are still sore from this workout.

Day 67
Yoga - Julie is awesome at Yoga. I am not as awesome.

Day 68
Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X - We missed a day and dis this workout the same day we did Kenpo. I did better on all my pull-ups. I tried to do more weight on my calf raises as well.

Day 69
Kenpo - Kenpo is harder to do if you have already done Ab Ripper X and Legs & Back. I was tired when we finished this video.

Day 70
Rest or Stretch - We will do Yoga tonight instead of resting. This will make up for missing Yoga on day 46.

20 Days to go.

I want to believe...
-Adam

DAY 60

Day 57

Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X - Wow we haven't done this video since the first month and it was hard. I did the best I've ever done with all of the push ups and pull ups.

Day 58
Plyometrics - This video is now getting easier. Still pretty tough though.

Day 59

Shoulders + Arms and AbRipper X - Another video we haven't done since month one and it was also very hard. Shoulder, Bi, Tri, exercises in that order and lots of them. My arms were looking good after this video.

Day 60

Yoga - That brings us to today. We will do Yoga later on but I wanted to go ahead and post the pictures.

I just have to say that I think we are looking really great. I would encourage anyone to do this program. I will say that a partner makes it so much easier. I would never have gotten this far if it wasn't for my beautiful wife encouraging me every day and helping me stick with everything. And now on to the pics.

The Last 30 days are going to be tough, but I hope that when we see the full 90 day transformation we will be able to look back and say wow, we completely got ripped in 3 months.

I want to believe...

-Adam

Starting the Last Month

It's been awhile. We are still on schedule and will be halfway through the 90 days on Saturday.

Here is a picture of me after our workout last night.

I'm still getting results and trying to eat healthy.

Julie is doing awesome. She is adding extra ab and leg exercises while she does the arm workouts. Last night in addition to Chest, Shoulders and Triceps, and AB Ripper X she did 127 squat/plies/ with weight, and 52 extra ab exercises. .... Dang she is mega tuff.

Day 35
Kenpo - We kicked butt and punched and kicked up a sweat. I would now consider this video easy.

Day 36
Chest Shoulders and Triceps & Ab Ripper X - Dang this video is hard. My chest triceps and shoulders are throbbing after this video.

Day 37
Plyometrics - Jumping and more jumping. Man I don't like this video it's tough and my legs are scrawny.

Day 38
Back and Biceps & Ab Ripper X - Man my biceps are going to explode off my arm during this routine.

Day 39
Yoga - More torture stretching and now I can do it with my yoga block ....Oh the pain.

Day 40
Legs and Back & Ab Ripper X - I hate "wall squats" and "80/20 speed squats with jumps." they make me want to die.

Day 41
Kenpo - Easy kicking and punching. We jumped and squated our way through it and wrapped up the first 30 days. 1/3 of the way done with the program!

Day 31

Back and Biceps and Ab Ripper X - This was a new video. My biceps were so sore after this workout. Lots and lots of curls and curl variations mixed with lots of pull ups. A really tough routine.

Day 32

Rest - We switched this day to the rest day for this week since we were gone most of the day in West Fork for the Poker Tournament.

Day 33

Yoga - Julie is Really getting great at Yoga. I am getting more flexible but absolutely dread Yoga. For Valentine's Day Julie got me a yoga block to help me with the video (she is so sweet). It had not arrived in the mail when we did this video but next week I will have it and we will see if it helps me.

Day 34

Legs and Back and Ab Ripper X- I can tell we are getting stronger and pushing ourselves more. Julie made the comment that the wall squat excersises were the toughest they have ever been. It's because we were adding weight to our other squats and making sure we were getting down low in our lunges. I also did a total of 72 pull ups and 21 of those were without using a chair to assist me.

We are still pushing play and working hard.

I want to believe...

Picture Time

Day 29

Today was the first day of the second part of the P90X program. We had a new video "Chest Shoulders Triceps" plus "Ab Ripper X". We did Ab Ripper first. It was every bit as hard as I remembered. Then we started the new video. It was so hard. We are doing so many Triceps extensions and push ups and shoulder exercises. 24 different exercises in all. The video lasted about 1 hour. All I can say is One handed push ups are so tough, and so are slow motion push ups, and side to side push ups, and clap push ups. and every other kind of push up imaginable. My arms were throbbing when we got finished. Julie did great, but she wasn't doing near as much weight or quantity of push ups that I was doing. Since its the start of the new wave of the program we took new pictures. We did them on Day 29 instead of Day 30 because day 30 is plyometrics ( a leg day) and we wanted our arms to look their best in the pictures.

Here is me.

<img style="cursor: pointer; I was tired and not looking forward to 1 hour an 32 minutes or painful stretch poses. However with Julie's encouragement we did it and got through it. Here are some pictures.

The first pic is a stretch called Royal Dancer. Here is me sucking at trying to do the stretch hold.

The next pic is Julie gracefully doing the same stretch with no problem.

Here is Julie doing a freaking impossible stretch that I can't remember the name of. I try to do this stretch, but I just can't do it yet.

Here is a picture of me doing something in Yoga that Julie can't do. It's called the "Crane Pose" and you have to balance on your hands with your feet off of the floor. I know you can't tell in the picture but my feet are off of the floor (I fell out of the pose and almost broke my face a few seconds after the picture was taken).

That brings us to the end of the recovery week. We got through it and made sure we worked hard. This is definitely one of the easier workouts in the program.

Day 25

Stretch-X - We finally did the Stretch video. It was a combination of the various stretches we do before and after each video mixed with a little yoga. It lasted about an hour and I must say that while it wasn't strenuous, it still wasn't fun. I think If I were more flexible it would help. Hopefully someday I will get there. Julie on the other hand seemed to think every stretch was pretty easy.

Day 26

Core Synergistics - We did better this time but it was still extremely hard. I really kicked butt and kept up my intensity and had a pretty good workout.

Day 21

This was supposed to be rest or Stretch X day but we swapped it with the next days workout so I could have the rest day on my birthday. We did Yoga and it was tough as always but we made it through.

Day 22

My Birthday and we just rested (aka winning money playing online poker)

Day 23

We did a new video called Core Synergistics. It involves a lot of core work with legs and arms combined. It was tough. especially all of the different push up variations we had to do. I was really tired after we finished. Next time Julie and I will know what to expect and we will bust out some core work.

Tonight will be Kempo- X and we are going to kick butt.

I want to believe...

-Adam

Gorgeous and Gasious

Julie is looking super hot and Gorgeous. I am looking better but with the way my body breaks down all of the extra protein I've been taking it gives me some pretty serious gas. Our workouts have not smelt so great. But my amazing wife still loves me and keeps working out right along side of me even though I'm sure she wants to run outside into some fresh air. We have been great this week with all of the workouts.

Day 15

Ab Ripper X and Chest and Back. These were tough and I really pushed myself. After the workout I could really tell that I am starting to get results and that was encouraging.

Day 16

Plyometrics. Man this is a tough workout. We got through it, and I'm glad I don't have to do it again this week.

Day 17

Ab Ripper X and Shoulders and Arms. Once again this is a workout that is tough but my arms are swollen and pumped after the workout. It makes you feel good when you look all buff for that 20 minutes or so. (unfortunately the next day my arms were so dead tired and I had to clean up branches and trees in the yard for about 5 hours.)

Day 18

After moving branches all day we did Yoga X. There is still one part of Yoga I just can't do because you almost have to be a contortionist to pull it off. (Even Julie struggles a little on this part) I just stretch my hamstrings during this part of the video. (I can now touch my toes ... barely) woo hoo.

Day 19

Ab Ripper X and Legs and Back. I had a cold and did not feel like doing the workout that night. Plus I had watched the kids most of the day while Julie was out with friends. (She is amazing to do that every day) I was very tired, but with Julie's encouragement, we did the workout and got through it.

That catches us up to today. I'm feeling better. Julie is doing Kenpo X today and I will do it tonight when I get home from work.

Next week is a rest week. I think we do more cardio and less lifting to let our bodies recover before we start the next wave of the program. I'm excited and scared.

I want to believe...

-Adam

2 weeks down

Day 13

We kicked butt with Kenpo X. We have managed to stay with the program and hopefully now things will be back on track.

Day 9

Plyometrics was tough as ever. We were staying at Julie's parents house while the power was down and did plyometrics there. We were tired but got through everything.

Day 10 and 11

We did day 10 (shoulders and arms, & Ab Ripper X) , and day 11 (Yoga X) all on Saturday since my family came over and played cards in an early celebration for my birthday on Friday night after I got off of Work.

I did Shoulders Arms and Ab Ripper in the morning while Julie took the kids to the store. Then she did the routine while the kids went down for a nap. After the morning routine I had to go to work and move heavy things in our new building. I was dead tired.

Later we did Yoga X and it sucked but I am definitely getting more flexible. I was actually able to barely touch my toes in a couple of the stretches. Julie is awesome as always and she pushes me to do things a lot better than I would if I was doing these exercise routines by myself.

Day 12

Sunday we went and watched the Superbowl and Julie's parents house. After the Superbowl, we did Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X. I was so wiped out and tired, I had a lot of trouble getting through everything. When We were finally done it was about 10:30 and we packed up the car and loaded the kids and got home around Midnight.

Tonight will be Kenpo X. We are a couple of days from getting through week 2. I feel like we are accomplishing a lot and I can start to see some results from our hard work. Week one is down just 11 weeks to go.

Day 8

After a cold night of Me and Julie and both kids huddled up under blankets on our bed we headed out in the morning to Julie's Parents house in Siloam Springs. That evening after the kids went to bed we started Chest and Back and Ab Ripper X for the beginning of week two.

We did Ab Ripper X first because we seem to do better at that when we are fresh and not dead tired from the other video. I'm Getting better but I'm still not where I need to be on flexibility or going through the whole video without stopping for a break every now and then. Julie is awesome and puts me to shame.

Chest and Back was tough as always but I definitely did better this time. Julie did good but she had to stop with the push up exercises about half way through due to pulling a muscle. in her arm. Hopefully she will be better in a couple of days when we do Arms and Shoulders

Next is Plyometrics. Its tough, and I'm not looking forward to it. Hopefully we will get through it and be on our way through week 2.

I want to believe...

-Adam

Kenpo X ... feeling good.

We did Kenpo X last night. It was tiring but not hard. Just a nice work out filled with punches and kicks. I actually did better than Julie on this one. She got flustered at her inability to combine the punches. (she confuses easily) But she caught on fast. She admitted to me she was frustrated that I was able to do it better than she was. It just shows how competitive she is.

We are still doing well eating healthy and I am still taking in a lot of protein. (Julie is better than me)

The Legs and Back video was so tiring. One hour of different leg squats, calf raises, and pull ups. I'm kind of sore today but I am sure I will be extra sore tomorrow. Julie's resistance band broke as she was using it during one of the pull up exercises. When I told her we would have to get her a new one, she said she was just going to get a pull up bar. She's so tough. I mean, can I really have my wife doing more pull ups than me? I am going to have to get my butt in gear to keep up with her. She is awesome.

Tonight is Kempo X. I was able to do more of the routine this time around. I did it in the morning before work. Owen got up and was quite curious to why Daddy was straining red faced to do what the people were doing on the TV. I told him he should try to do what I was doing and he just looked at me and said, "I can't". He did try however to do the stretching with me at the end of the video. He was very cute. here are some pics.

Julie did her Ab Ripper X after she put the kids down for their nap. She said she did better this time around too. Then I came home form work during lunch and we did Shoulders and Arms together.

Let me tell you, at the end of the video, I was struggling to lift the 5 lb. dumbbells. Later that night I could barely hold Scarlett. Yeah I am sore and will only get sorer over the next day or two. Julie did very well but she was not lifting very much weight as she is not really wanting to get super buff.

Day 4

Today we did Yoga X. It was about 90 minutes of torture stretching. The first part of the video was all about these strength movements and breathing and contorting your body into impossible positions all while standing on one leg. Julie did pretty good, but I had a very hard time. Hopefully over the course of 90 days I will get better at some of the routine. The second half was better it was more of stretching out different parts of the body and some abdominal core exercises. I was glad when we were done.

Tomorrow is legs and back. I don't really know what to expect except it will probably make me want to curl into the fetal position and cry. But that is ok because Julie is here to comfort me and help me along. I can't wait to get through these first few weeks and get through all of the soreness in my muscles. 4 days down and 86 more to go.

I want to believe...

-Adam

Pylomesucks

Plyometrics suck. My legs aren't real sore today but I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow.

Julie did awesome. She was tired, but she seemed to keep up better than I did. She is in a lot better shape than I am. She is also way more flexible than me. I need to stretch more to get limber enough to do some of the workouts properly.

Today is Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X. My arms and shoulders and abs are already really sore. I will probably die during the next videos. The first video was Chest and Back. The second was Ab Ripper X. Wow what a workout. It killed me. Julie was wiped out as well. I think I started off with too many push ups the first round because by round two I was dying. I took it slow by doing regular push ups and when I got tired I moved to push ups on my knees but my arms were jello by the end of the video. I also did all of my pull ups using a chair and even those assisted pull ups were killing me.

I was exhausted when we started Ab Ripper X and by the end of the 3rd exercise all I could do was flop on the ground like a fish out of water trying to follow along with the video. I need to get more flexible to do most of the ab exercises.

Julie did very well. She was also tired but she didn't seem and dead as I was. Maybe she is just not as wimpy as I am.

ADAM'S PERFORMANCE
Total push ups on toes - 72
Total push ups on knees -51
Total pull ups with chair - 45
Back Pulls with dumbbell -73 (average weight 25 lbs)

JULIE"S PERFORMANCE
Total push ups on toes - 31
Total push ups on knees -30
Total pulls with resistance band - 87
Back Pulls with dumbbell -90 (average weight 5 lbs)

Tonight is Plyometrics. An apple for my mid morning snack. A turkey sandwich and grapes for lunch. Later I will eat some tuna on wheat crackers for a snack. Then we will have a healthy dinner and after the workout we will have a healthy smoothie (My smoothie will contain a scoop of whey protein). I have also drank, in addition to my glass of milk, two glasses of water. Julie is also doing it with me to help me get through the program. (Hey, we don't start the diet until Wednesday) and let me tell you the videos look insanely tough. I guess that is the idea.
